To Know Christ

Biblical righteousness is the quality of being right in the eyes of .

Romans 3:21-22

The only way to be right in the eyes of God is to be .

The only way to be seen as sinless is to have the righteousness of Jesus (transferred) through .

Faith is a deeply held that influences the way one conducts themselves.

            Romans 12:2a

Repentance is the changing of the which leads to a change of .

The truth is, without Jesus we do not have a for the future.

Paul considers this truth so vital that all he wants is to “ Jesus, and Him crucified” (1 Corinthians 2:2)

The most important thing to Paul is to know, and be in Jesus.

The Three Specific Things Paul Wants To Know

  • To “know” Jesus means to be in with Him.

Relationship is important because we claim Jesus is our .

  • To “know” the power of the resurrection of Jesus.

The power that resurrected Jesus is the same power that has resurrected our lives and sustains them.

  • To “know” the fellowship of Jesus’ sufferings.

Galatians 5:24

Not mere knowledge of, but to actually in His sufferings by crucifying the old .

This desire of Paul’s to “know” should be the desire all have.

Think about it.

To be done during quiet time sometime this week. You are encouraged to talk about these questions with others.

  1. How do followers of Jesus cultivate a desire to really know Him?
  2. How well are you doing in your pursuit to know Him?
  3. What are some of the obstacles that get in your way?
  4. What changes need to be made in order for you to pursue a relationship with Jesus, to experience the power of His resurrection and to participate in His sufferings?
