Dealing With Conflict and Division

October 15, 2023 / Pastor Brian Van Dyke / Philippians 4:1-3

Philippians 4:1-3

Two people were in conflict and causing division.

The damage of division amongst Christians causes focus to be taken God.

causes focus to be put on God.

John 17:1ff

Jesus walked in unity with the Father so that God would be .

John 17:20-240

Jesus prayed we would have the unity with Him and the Father.

The unity with the Father was expressed in the of will and desire.

As a human Jesus gave up His divine prerogative and to the Father so that God would be glorified.

Unity , points people to, God!

Division is avoided by the same way as Jesus.

The members of the assembly are responsible for those who are against each other.

How?

  • these individuals that Jesus commands unity among His followers.
  • to take sides and be a part of the division.
  • appropriately with your own concerns to divided parties instead of gossiping and contributing to further division.
  • sinful talk and action.
  • God to intervene.

Think about it.

To be done during quiet time sometime this week. You are encouraged to talk about these questions with others.

  1. Why is it important to deal with conflict and division within the assembly or between to followers of Jesus?
  2. Are you aware of any conflict or division in the assembly? How have you responded?
  3. Do you harbor dividing thoughts and feelings towards someone in the assembly? What should you do?
  4. How can working in tandem to glorify God help marital conflict?
